Tips for successful Infant & Children’s Sessions
from RUNNING STUDIO

BEFORE ARRIVING AT THE STUDIO

  • Make your appointment for your session during your child’s “Best” time of day (when they’re the  happiest!).
  • Make sure your child has had adequate sleep & well rested before the shoot.
  • Feed them well without too much sugar as they may become hyper active.
  • Keep to their normal routine before the shoot – kid’s like routines!
  • Keep a calm presence without rushing around as kids pick up on stress and tenseness.
  • Bring along a favorite toy or blanket so they have a “familiar” surrounding.

DURING YOUR CHILD’S PHOTO SESSION

  • James & Lisa will meet & become “friends” with your child as soon as you arrive. We want them to feel comfortable with us and eliminate any fears about this new surrounding they’re in.
  • Bring along their favorite music CD and we can play it during the session. Try to plan so that they haven’t listened to it for a day or two and it will be “fresh” during the shoot!
  • You’ll be right by your infant during the entire shoot.
  • We have found children 2 years or older tend to do much better if the parent is more of an observer in the studio as opposed to being “hands on” during the shoot. James & Lisa work very well with children and know how to get that “magical expression” from them. If we are instructing the child AND the parent is also calling out to them it usually gets the child confused & frustrated and we very quickly loose the opportunity for that great shot!
  • We realize most children have short attention spans so we work quickly & efficiently to get those special shots that you’ll love.
